    PUT ON YOUR PARTY PANTS!

This limited edition microlot comes to us from Bukonzo Joint Cooperative Union, a co-op of 5,500 small farms in the Rwenzori Mountain Region of Western Uganda, where they grow high-quality, organic, hand-picked coffee.  Of the farms in the Bukonzo Joint co-op, 83% are women owned.

Every year, Bukonzo Joint holds a microlot competition, where each micro washing station submits a coffee for scoring and evaluation by a team of guest cuppers from North America.  At the conclusion of the competition, all of the farmers are invited to an event in Kasese, where each coffee is recognized and ranked.  After the wild cheers for each group, it’s party time, with local foods and drinks and dancing through the night!

Party Pants is a celebration of the harvest, and our selection this year from the competition. Lightly roasted, delivering flavors of pineapple and brown sugar, with a rhubarb acidity and a hint of fresh celery.  In fact, the yellow, black, and orange design used on this poster came directly from our Head of Coffee Mollie Moisan’s Pants, sewn by a member of the Bukonzo Joint Co-op with East African kitenge fabric.  This is the outfit she would don for the annual celebration!

Party Pants is very bright and well-balanced – a real party!
