CAN YOU IMAGINE LIFE
WITHOUT GOOD COFFEE?

At Java City, we believe in making better coffee and doing it in a way that’s better for farmers and the environment. Our beans are roasted in Italian brick-lined roasters, allowing for a slower, longer roast.  This unique roasting process uses radiant heat versus direct heat, and what that means for you is coffee that’s exceptionally smooth.

Our coffee beans are sourced exclusively from ethical farmers around the world, and our sustainability doesn’t stop there.  We’ve retrofitted our corporate office and roasting facilities with energy saving upgrades.  And we’re obsessed with recycling and repurposing.  If there’s no planet, there’s no coffee.  That thought keeps us awake at night, even if we’re drinking decaf.

From growing to roasting and packaging,
we’re committed to the environment
and sustainability.

    About Ladies To The Front

Proudly roasted by Java City, Ladies To The Front is produced exclusively by women, and benefits women from start to finish.

The Nicaraguan beans used in Ladies To The Front come to us from Tierra Madre, and are grown and processed by women coffee farmers in Jinotega who receive a premium based on coffee that meets a high-quality standard.  The premium assists the women to obtain legal title to their land, key to accessing micro-credit loans for production and other economic activities that permit a better quality of life.

Ladies To The Front is roasted and packed solely by women at Java City in Sacramento.

For every bag of Ladies To The Front sold, $1 goes to a scholarship fund to help further the education goals of women graduates of the coffee training re-entry program at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center in Sacramento County.  The re-entry program provides women with skills to help them successfully re-enter the community.  Graduates of the program currently work in the coffee industry in the Sacramento area as baristas and roasters.

Ladies To The Front is for women, by women.

    About Zambia Nsunzu

Zambia Nsunzu comes to us from the Northern province of Zambia, which has excellent growing conditions for Arabica coffee, with its proximity to the equator and abundant altitude. Selective harvesting is done by hand to ensure the coffee cherries are at peak ripeness before being pulped. The coffee is then fermented and washed before being sun-dried, resulting in a rich, complex flavor.
